Melodrama and Realism
A poetry website by Nicholas Nicoli
Caveat Venditor
It has all gone social,
and viral,
and collaborative
and civic
leading us to believe,
Caveat Venditor
‘Caveat Venditor? or
‘corruption of the facts’*?
A young new age, deceitful, parlousness in its youth
A precocious annoying twat,
Or are we living out the life of a wise old man?
Annoying…
Where does one find solitude with such scrutinizing annoyance?
It has all gone PC
And CBT,
And ADHD
And NLP
Wanting us to feel,
Caveat Venditor
‘Caveat Venditor? or
‘corruption of the facts’*?
Seismic change travelling circular,
And though The U2 I know would not let me let the bastards grind me down
We reach the ritalined past and realise it’s prettier than the ritalined future
So it might just still be caveat emptor…
And in that we must find solitude
