Autobiographical poems from these parts of the world are filled with guilty exaggeration, obfuscation, passive-aggressive tendencies and self-pity.  What some simply call melodrama. Melodrama is a part of my identity as a Cypriot; as such, melodramatic autobiographical poetry is a form of creative expression that comes quite naturally to me.

At the same time I find my poetry a little too melodramatic.  Writing that often drifts into abstractionism.  I therefore try to balance it with verses that are closer to my reality.  A touch of realism juxtaposed with melodrama ironically creates a more cathartic and immersive experience - at least for me.

And if my poems get too much to handle, there is other poetry in this space that one can enjoy and seek inspiration from; I certainly have.
